R.I.P. Jack Brown

Who's awesome? This guy
Although this has little to do with sports, I needed to make mention of the passing of Jack Brown. A legend in the Dallas/Fort Worth media world, he was the host of "Jack Brown's Texas" and "Texas on a Tank," both fascinating travel/Texas culture segments that ran on NBC Channel 5 and CBS/FOX Channel 4 locally.

Basically, trotting around Texas and interviewing interesting people and seeing interesting things sounded like a hell of a job. The obituary does little justice.

Another Baltimore Oriole -- Jay Gibbons -- is cited as dealing with steroids or HGH. Just another brick in the wall.

Did you know the Texas Rangers have one of the worst seasons for a DH in 1988 in regards to on base percentage plus slugging? The culprits? Mostly Larry Parrish, but help from Pete Incaviglia, Geno Petralli, Mike Stanley, Kevin Reimer among others.

A solid recap of the Cowboys-Giants game from Sports Sturm.

It's not like Mike Heika can just sit around all summer. If anyone's going to report on the Dallas Stars' use of Brett Hull in the front office, it's him.
