No matter the continent, Tom Hicks is a shitty owner
One of the coolest sports/leagues in the world that a vast majority of American males care very little fore is the English Premiership League.
British soccer. Where David Beckham once played. In fact, I think the Spanish and Italian leagues are just as cool. They have everything on a more celebrated tier than American sports. Their soccer players are the Brad Pitts, George Clooneys and Matt Damons. The soccer players' girlfriends are the Paris Hiltons, Lindsay Lohans and Britney Spears. Except way hotter and with less baggage.
Plus the fans and facilities are great. Everyone has a team and a history. Unlike displaced Red Sox fans going to a Texas Rangers game.
Speaking of, it seems Rangers/Stars owner Tom Hicks is pissing off the fanbase of one of the EPL's stand-out clubs, Liverpool.
I don't know what exactly is going on but if you read this article from overseas, the phrase "laughing stock of the league" is used, much like American media with the Rangers. This article kinda sums up Hicks' trangressions. Fans are pissed. Players are pissed.
Basically, go see Liverpool fanboy Bob Sturm's account or check out the Dallas Observer, a paper always quick to jump on Hicks.
The gist: Hicks is holding the organization hostage and not spending money on players and generally not caring if the organization wins games.
Sound familiar?
