Kidd, Stack, George and Tony Parker

No Tony Parker in San Antonio? No Eva Longoria in San Antonio. Think about that.
The saga of the Jason Kidd deal is ongoing.

Allegedly, Devean George's agent is meeting with New Jersey Nets management to hammer George's role should he be traded and if his "bird" rights will be affected.

By the way, why is George taking it on the chin here? Is it his fault that Donnie Nelson didn't check with his agent first? Is it his fault he has this clause that he can block a trade? Wouldn't any other player do the same? If these clauses are intended to not be used, why have them? He's looking out for his well being and career. Whether he's a superstar or spare part on the bench is irrelevent.

Also, the league might come down on the Mavericks for tampering due to the comments made by Jerry Stackhouse about "not going anywhere" as it is intended --should the trade happen -- for the Nets to buy him out and the Mavs can sign him after 30 days. I find it unlikely, but should the league ban the Mavs from doing so, this trade is officially down the shitter.

For the first time ever, Kelly Dwyer is making sense.

Although I don't entirely agree as I wonder about Devin Harris' mindset and confidence should the trade not go down. But I present to you Exhibit A:

In 2003, the San Antonio Spurs were looking to make a substantial run at a NBA Championship. However, they had doubts about their second-year guard Tony Parker, who had undoubtedly improved over time, but hadn't made the leap the Spurs wanted.

So Jason Kidd rumors exploded. He was destined for the Spurs in a deal that mirrors the Mavs offer including the young Parker. The deal didn't happen. Parker stayed, they won the championship anyway and added rings in 2005 and 2007.

Not that the Mavs are going to win the championship. If they don't get healthy, they won't win the Special Olympics. But it's a lesson of it's not what moves you make, it's the moves you don't make that matter most. It is too early to give up on Harris.
