Tag, Hamlin's it
The Dallas Cowboy pulled out their franchise tag and slapped it on safety Ken Hamlin.
Very smart move. There were silly, silly thoughts that the Cowboys would franchise tackle Flozell Adams, which is insane because they would have to pay him like $9 million for next year. The Cowboys still have less than a week to sign Adams and at 33 years of age he's looking to get his final big payday. Probably more than Leonard Davis got (7 years, $49 million, about $19 million guaranteed).
This is why Stephen and Jerry Jones get paid the big money (you know, like, billions). Can the Cowboys count on Pat McQuistan, Doug Free and James Marten? Is Adams worth the money? Can you depend on him to be healthy?
Franchising Hamlin means he'll get paid $4.4 million next year assuming the Cowboys don't go ahead and extend, which will more than likely happen mid-season.
Anyway, safety is set. They can concentrate on corner.
