Yao's foot and a Magloire

Yao, while listening to The Smiths
Suddenly, the Dallas Mavericks stock rose just a tad. And it really had nothing to do with them.

Yao Ming is out for the year with a stress fracture in his foot. I know he's a different animal and basically demolishes opponents, but if you only get him for 60 games a year, what's the point?

In other news, the Mavs are about to sign center Jamaal Magloire, to fill in as a back-up to Erick Dampier. I've always like Magloire and thought the Mavs should've gotten him earlier. The odd thing is that he's only 29 and his career's tailspinned like he's 49. Don't know what his problem is.

Furthermore, Sam Cassell is on the brink of a buyout from the Clips. He'd be an excellent back-up for Kidd. Of course, it'd be the oldest point guard duo in the history of the game.

On a final note, ESPN writer Bill Simmons chimed in on the Jason Kidd trade and basically supported my stance on the guy for the last four weeks. He just doesn't make them that much better. Not that it makes me right, but I feel less wrong.
