We all know the Nelson doesn't attract the big names anymore and that's probably just the state of things from here on out. It's something we're all going to have to do with. But if the gold gods could powwow and have a "name" win this thing, it'd help.

Yes, these three guys could win the Nelson. Could. Look at these guys' years -- two top 10 finishes between the three of them. These guys do not know how to win golf tournaments. Of course, not that the rest of the field does either.

Adam Scott -- -2
A favorite of this blog has never turned the corner. In the hunt at the Nelson as the only top 10 player participating. Him winning would drag SportsCenter coverage of the tourney out of the last 10 minutes.

Ian Poulter -- -2
The guy who talked shit to Tiger in a magazine interview a month ago.

Jesper Parnevik -- -2
Does he still wear the hat?

Sean O'Hair -- -1
An incredibly Irish name. I think he was the guy who's dad beat him and put out cigarettes on his arm for every bogey. He also has one win and another third finish this year.

Justin Leonard -- +1
When is the Metroplex going to disown this guy?

Chris DiMarco -- +1
When is the Metroplex going to disown this guy? Actually, he peaked fairly recently, so he still has several more years of underachieving.

Sergio Garcia -- +1
Does he still count as a premiere name? He was once the answer to Tiger.

There there are the dudes that are about to get cut unless they go under hard and fast:

The dude ought to start winning tournaments -- and making cuts -- if he's going to bash Tiger in the media.

John Daly -- +5
Although we'd love him to be one, he can only be a tragic figure when it stops being fun.

Chad Campbell -- +7
Like Daly, he's fat. Like Leonard, he's local. Like me, he has not shot in winning this golf tournament.

Trevor Immelman -- +8
OK, if you'd asked the Nelson organizers who they'd most want to win, current Master's champ Immelman was probably the guy. If you'd ask who they wanted to place dead stinkin' last, they would've said Chris Stroud or Jason Bohn. Guess who's dead last?
