Colonial times

Afterwards, he partied in Sundance Square all night
It didn't seem that long ago that April-May was a really exciting times for golf fans in Dallas-Fort Worth.

Now the Nelson's down and the Colonial, for one reason or another, doesn't get the hype locally like it used to. Or maybe it never did. Maybe the Nelson was so huge that some of the momentum carried over to the lesser Colonial. Now, the Nelson's dragging the Colonial down, hypewise.

The fact is, the Colonial has always been a really fun tourney to watch and this year it features five of the top 10 players in the world -- Phil Mickelson, K.J. Choi, Steve STricker, Jim Furyk and Geoff Ogilvy. The Nelson could only conjure up Adam Scott. Plus, there's scheduling. The Colonial is one week before the Memorial and three weeks before the U.S. Open. The Nelson sits in the middle of nowhere.

The Uwe Blog Official Golf Predictions:

Here are the top three guys I think could win the Colonial

Kenny Perry
Placed second last year. Went on a run at the Nelson. But you will see no other guy spend so much time near the top of the leaderboard and hit so many bad shots. He'll be in the mix, but he won't win.

Phil Mickelson
Has played excellent, if not often inconsistent, golf all year. No Tiger, Lefty should always be considered the favorite.

Rory Sabbatini
Defending champ. Quasi-local guy has had marked improvements over the last three weeks stemming from placing 102 at the Nelson.
