Dallas Cowboys Depth Chart: Safety
A month ago, most football fans would've assumed the safety situation in Dallas would be pretty solidified.
Well, think again. Ken Hamlin still hasn't hammered out a free agent deal after being named the franchise player. And Roy Williams is busy vacationing, comparing himself to Jesus Christ and trying to find out why his teammates are throwing him under the bus.
Other than all that, everything's hunky-dory.
Roy Williams
If he were cut right now and the Cowboys signed Bill Bates, I don't think many fans would blink. It's slightly funny because if you had everyone wear a Cowboy jersey in the city, you'd find probably 40 percent Williams, 30 percent Tony Romo, 15 percent Marion Barber, 10 percent Terrell Owens and 5 percent Richard Bartel. The guy's sold a ton of jerseys, and yet nobody likes him.
Ken Hamlin
Just kind of get the feeling Hamlin didn't want to do OTAs last week. Probably just wanted to chill before training camp.
Pat Watkins
I think Watkins is pretty useful. Well, let's just say there are tons of more useless characters in the league. Watkins isn't one of them. If somehow Dave Campo could harness that speed and height into a good cover safety, it'd be a perfect situation. I just don't know if he has the head to do that.
Courtney Brown
He's a little small, but super fast. A seventh-rounder in 2007, he's being kept around which means the Cowboys must see something. Or maybe he's cheaper.
Dowayne Davis
Interesting guy. He's fast and built like a safety. But he's also really smart (All-Academic teams galore, 3.27 GPA at Syracuse). Brains should never be underestimated especially as a defensive back.

they need someone to step up, i don't think their safety is adequate.
