The year of Boston

Paul Pierce: On top of the world
I hate seeing the Boston sports fan get to see two championships in a year, not including a third championship game they lost in February.
But as much as I complain about the Dallas sports fan, I can't say much against the Boston sports fan. I don't know if they deserve it, but there are worse fans who could be enjoying a NBA title right now after a 131-92 win.
Right now, Kevin Garnett is on cloud No. 9. Ray Allen got his ring. Paul Pierce is automatically a Celtics legend.
What we all witnessed Tuesday night was an ass whooping on the biggest stage, of the highest order. The Celtics worked harder, played tougher, ran faster, sweat more and just beat the living brains out of the Lakers. Of course, the blow-out was coming. The Lakers were awful all series, even in their wins. Sooner or later, the Celtics were going to pull together their "A" game and blow the Lakers out.
Furthermore, I knew the Celtics were going to come with it last night. No way they wanted to go into a game 7 against Kobe Bryant, home or not. They wanted to feed off that crowd and get the win in six. The Lakers were going to have to blow the roof of the new Garden to get the win. I doubt they could've blown the roof off a junior high gymnasium last night.
Thoughts:
1. Let this sink in: Doc Rivers has a NBA title.
2. I think the Dallas Mavericks have been trying to get a cagey, athletic swingman to come off the bench. Like Doug Christie, Eddie Jones. I think they've been trying to find their own James Posey. That guy has balls the size of boulders. At times, he gave Bryant fits.
3. At most, Jordan Farmar should aim to be Eddie House 2.0. Shouldn't overextend himself too much.
4. I realize the Lakers are probably aiming to being in the Finals for the next couple of years, but this team is flawed. For one, they need a legit sixth and seventh man. The pieces they have can not fill out a bench. Two, they need to do something with Lamar Odom. He doesn't fit.
5. Did Pau Gasol lay an egg or what? Geez.
6. Garnett was missing most of these playoffs. Good, at times, but never great. Tuesday night he was pretty great.
7. Brian Scalabrine will have a NBA championship ring.
8. If game 4 was the worst choke in Lakers history, game 6 had to be the worst overall loss in Lakers history.
9. All of us who hate the Lakers and their fans, three cheers.
