I'm not on Time's side
Today, Time magazine came out with their list of the worst and best sports executives.
And it sucks. It's arguably the worst list of all time although this one might have something to say about it.
For one, there's no known criteria. This is essentially the list's explanation:
Finally, it's not a complete list. In actuality, the items should not have been numbered as much as listed as "Best" and "Worst." For example, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones or Mavs owner Mark Cuban are not there. So betwee No. 1 (Sir Alex Ferguson) and No. 35 (Ricardo Teixera) there's no Cuban, Jones, Theo Epstein, Art Moreno, Usher, Jay-Z or any of the folks who run teams ... well or not.
The fact that Jones is not in the top 5 is a crime. Cuban deserves top 15 or 20 recognition. Just a dumb list.
Dallas sports was not shut-out, however. Tom Hicks and George Gillett, co-owners of the Liverpool Football Club (in addition to the Rangers, Stars and Montreal Canadiens) were listed at No. 24, which is not good:

From brilliant trades and shrewd marketing ideas to referee scandals and Spygate, we've listed our picks for the best and worst sports executives. Two, there are no separate lists for the best and the worst. It's a list of 35 people. The folks at the top are good and the folks at the bottom are bad. Instead of being listed the 1,000 best sports executive as he probably is behind little league commissioners and fantasy team owners, Detroit Lions GM Matt Millen is No. 33.

Another issue: MLB commish Bud Selig is No. 31, NHL commish Gary Bettman No. 27 and NBA commish Dave Stern is No. 22. Each have had their issues, but there is no reason why they shouldn't be Nos. 31, 32 and 33. To me, the betting scandal in the NBA and the way Bettman has mishandled the NHL the last two years is just as bad as the HGH scandal in baseball. All three are pretty bad and should be back to back to back.
Fast-forward 17 months and the two are just barely on speaking terms. They've squabbled over the club's future — Hicks is intent on buying Gillett's stake; Gillett has looked keener to sell to Arab investors — and undermined the team's coach. The fans' response: a fund-raising campaign to buy the club themselves.
