Mavs offer deal for Artest

WTF?

The Dallas Mavericks are in the headlines: They've offered Jerry Stackhouse and Brandon Bass for psycho Ron Artest.

This is a fabulous deal and I hope the Kings take it. It allows the Mavs to move one old body (Stack), his dumb contract and Bass, who's a fine player, but he doesn't fit anywhere. He's too small to cover power forwards and too big to cover small forwards. He's an odd, misshapen duck.

Artest, meanwhile, gives you grit, anger, hatred, edge and a little defense. He'll bug the shit out of Manu Ginobili, Kobe Bryant and Tracey McGrady.

And he's liable to score a little for you.

Frankly, the line-up of Jason Kidd, Artest, Josh Howard, Dirk Nowitzki and Erick Dampier makes me giddy.
