Disowning Evan Grant

This photo can't get any louder
No, no. Just joking. I love reading Evan Grant cover my Texas Rangers for the Dallas Morning News.

His wit carries most fans through tough season after tough season and he's skeptical and pessimistic without losing the tint of being a homer.

But, man, it's hard to take up for the guy the last couple of weeks.

Several weeks ago, Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia was appropriately voted as the AL MVP.

One guy left Pedroia completely off the ballot. That's Grant.

Pissing off the fanbase of the Nationals, Marlins or Mariners is one thing. Pissing off Red Sox Nation is another.

Granted, he did vote for Kevin Youkilis as the MVP, so he wasn't bias. And he did come out promptly with a note that he was wrong.

Unfortunately, he agreed to an interview with WEEI, Boston's sports talk station where he was lambasted and came off looking really bad.

More recently, he did an interview with a Sox blog stating his whole position and kinda clearing the air. The best thing he could've done during this whole ado is remain open, which he has and that's what makes him better than most.

In other Rangers news:

1. Wes Littleton was traded to the BoSox for future considerations. He was out of options anyway.

2. The Rangers offered Milton Bradley salary arbitration. Should Bradley go elsewhere, the Rangers will get a compensation pick in the next draft. Furthermore, they did not offer arbitration to Ramon Vasquez, Jason Jennings or Jamey Wright. However, the Rangers did say they were interested in signing Jennings to a minor-league deal.

3. The Mariners named former Rangers coach Don Wakamatsu as their manager. He then named former Rangers coach Dom Chiti pitching coach and they're in talks with naming minor league pitching guy Rick Adair as another pitching coach. Good luck with all that.
