Mark Cuban fires across ESPN's bough
Dallas Maverick Drew Gooden allegedly called some Los Angeles Clipper fans "faggots."
However, that's the least interesting part of this ordeal.
Mavs owner Mark Cuban is responding to Out Sports, the online medium that first reported the incident and that deals with gay issues in sports.
However, he's apparently not talking to the members of ESPN Dallas, according to the World Wide Leader and Deadspin.
Cuban's saying the "heckling" that ensued from the fans wasn't very nice and although going the "faggot" route was the wrong decision, things needed to be put in perspective.
Cuban didn't want ESPN Dallas to know this ... or at least make them go to Out Sports to quote from their site.
Most importantly, Cuban never denies Gooden said what he allegedly said. So, guilty as charged, I guess.
This is another chapter in Cuban's ultimate fight against online media outlets of his choice. Cuban's never been a fan of blogs. And he's recently cited his disdain for ESPN Dallas for not going to pre-season games and giving his team much coverage.
For the record, two of ESPN Dallas' top 10 stories are Mavs related (Quinton Ross, last night), but the Cowboys only have one story (Brian Westbrook injury). I guess it's about effort for Cuban.
Anyway, good times and God bless Mark Cuban.
