TCU edges closer
For those of you who hate the BCS or those who just love TCU (or want to see them crash the BCS party), then Saturday was a good day.
Oregon, Notre Dame, Iowa, Penn State and LSU lost. Boise State struggled to beat one of the spares they play in conference. It knocks most of those teams out of BCS contention and puts TCU right there and with a win next week at Utah and it's hard to keep them out.
TCU 55, San Diego State 12
Men vs. boys. Andy Dalton is a great quarterback and if you're letting TCU get 300+ yards rushing, then consider yourself beat. Don't look now, but you-know-who's upcoming.
Texas 35, UCF 3
Took the Longhorns one whole quarter to shake off the cobwebs and appropriately put a beating down on UCF. At least for this week there will be no wondering if that Texas team is going to show up. Of course, Jordan Shipley totaling 286 total yards is a good way to win games.
Oklahoma State 34, Iowa State 8
Kendall Hunter's back but it's Keith Toston that stole the show with 207 rushing yards. A very complete game for the Cowboys against an upstart Cyclone team that has given others fits.
Kansas State 17, Kansas 10
What happened to Kansas? They can't run the ball, but there's probably a dozen good college teams that can't really run the ball. Maybe they can't run the ball when they need to. Furthermore, Todd Reesing isn't nearly as accurate and their playmakers aren't making nearly enough plays. K-State, meanwhile, trods along winning games. At 4-2 in conference, they lead the Big XII North and are already bowl eligible.
SMU 31, Rice 28
Nevermind that Rice is one of the worst football programs in the NCAA over the past decade. A win is a win. No. 5 and one out of bowl eligibility. And it looks like they've found a quarterback in Kyle Padron, although it'd be good to actually protect the guy. Another six sacks.
Colorado 35, Texas A&M 34
The Aggies can lose to any time on any given day. Man, I'd be pulling my hair out if I were an Aggie faithful watching them beat Texas Tech and then stink it up against K-State or stinkin' Colorado. It's maddening. The defense needs to step up one of these days and help win a game. The offense is as good as it gets.
Baylor 40, Missouri 32
OK, the Big XII is officially a crapshoot. And it's also the worst big conference in the nation.
Louisiana-Monroe 33, UNT 6
UNT goes as Riley Dodge goes: three interceptions, 10 yards rushing.
Nebraska 10, Oklahoma 3
A four-loss Oklahoma team? Yowza. Roy Helu Jr. tore up that mighty Sooner defense. With A&M, Tech and OSU next up, are we sure OU makes a bowl? Just in case you forgot that OU was starting a freshman quarterback.
SFA 31, Nicholls State 27
SFA turned the ball over four times and survived to tell the tale. First undefeated home slate since 1999.
